Dianne van Giersbergen had her first singing lesson when she was four years old - a birthday present from her parents, who had noticed her interest in music and singing. She continued with her lessons and joined various choirs. When she was fifteen she met Joost, with whom she started Erinyen, the band that would later become Ex Libris. Between the ages of 17 and 19 she was taught to sing classical music by conductor and vocal coach Sef Pijpers senior, who helped her prepare for her audition at the ‘ArtEZ Institute of the Arts, School of Music' in Arnhem, where she is currently in her third year and being taught by Elena Vink. Apart from singing at Ex Libris concerts she is also regularly invited to perform with classical orchestras and ensembles.
